The best asparagus in France grows in the district of Blaye, north of Bordeaux. The white tips with a violet hue harmonise perfectly with the local wine, the Côtes de Blaye.
No wonder that many asparagus farmers are winegrowers at the same time.

At the end of April they celebrate their asparagus festival, which attracts more than 8000 visitors to the small community every year.
About fifty exhibitors with their regional products welcome the guests at the main square: winegrowers, fishermen, cheese-makers and of course asparagus farmers.

Children can ride ponies or have make-up done, the older ones watch famous Chiefs doing show cooking - asparagus is also the focus here.
Free concerts and food stands complete the festival.
